This is Garbage. Nope Mam, this is Garage!

Candy, time keeper :
The Chocolate Watchband!
(that also works for The Strawberry Alarm Clock)

Ok son, you won't hear my scratchy voice no more, but here's what you'll get : a full blast of garage to your lovely ears. If Music Was The Food Of Love ... Then Prepare For Indigestion!
You'll find below an exquisite introduction to Garage Rock that I strongly recommend to every newcomers to this genre. It's a mixture of classic Garage tunes and more obscure stuff. Dive into this dirty world, sing your soul out, jump out of your couch, burn the house down and get that crazy feeling!

Movie Of The Week
/
Go, Johnny Go! (1959)

Here's the theatrical trailer :

Fantastic Alan Freed movie with a galaxy of 1950s rock and roll stars! Jimmy Clanton stars as "Johnnie Melody," an unwanted teenager from an orphanage who sends a demo record to disc jockey Alan Freed and rises to rock and roll fame! Along the way he meets a cool chick (Sandy Stewart), falls in love, and gets arrested by the cops!

Chuck Berry has an acting roll and also performs some of his classics. Cool record store scene but the real treat is the 1950s rock and roll music: The Flamingos: "Jump, Children." The Cadillacs: "Jay Walker," "Please, Mr. Johnson." Harvey: "Don't Be Afraid To Love Me." Jackie Wilson: "You Better Know It." Chuck Berry: "Johnny B. Goode," "Little Queenie," "Memphis, Tennessee." Eddie Cochran: "Teenage Heaven." Ritchie Valens: "Ooh My Head." Jo-Ann Campbell: "Momma, Can I Go Out." Jimmy Clanton: "My Love Is Strong," "It Takes A Long Time," "Ship On A Stormy Sea," "Angel Face." Sandy Stewart: "Playmates." "Heavenly Father." Jimmy Clanton and Sandy Stewart: "Once Again."

Alan Freed, Jimmy Clanton, Sandy Stewart, Chuck Berry, Jackie Wilson, Ritchie Valens, The Cadillacs, Jo-Ann Campbell, The Flamingos, Harvey Fuqua, Eddie Cochran, Jimmy Cavallo and the House Rockers, Herb Vigran, Frank Wilcox, Barbara Woodell, Milton Frome, Joe Cranston, Martha Wentworth, Robert Foulk, Joe Flynn. Go Johnny Go!

Ok, I'm absolutly not sure if these are The Debonaires
that issued "Never Mistaken", but it would be
a shame to pass them by

The Miracles performing "You've Really Got A Hold On Me"
on Shindig! on November 4, 1964

 Jerry Raye, member?/leader?/man behind? Fenwick
Maybe he was just backed by Fenwick on "Mindrocker"
Anyway, his name is associated with this particular recording

Here's a scandalous collection of smokin' sexy girls
form the first half of the 20th century doing
exotic dances to The Coasters' "Little Egypt"
"It is so sexy it is downright salacious!"

Beach Ball (1965)

Here's the trailer

"Surf ridin', skin divin', sky jumpin', drag racin', beach bashin' boys and their bikini beauties...in a blast of a beach brawl!" Three aspiring rockers in a group called, "The Wigglers," attempt to raise enough money to get their instruments out of hock. Very cool Long Beach, California custom-car show featuring the Silhouette!

"Beach Ball" feels like the companion film to, "The Girls on the Beach." The music will knock your socks off! Edd Byrnes says stuff like,"Don't bug me, baby. I'm in orbit." Look for Sid Haig as the drummer for Righteous Brothers!

The Supremes, the Four Seasons, the Righteous Brothers, the Hondells, the Walker Brothers, the Nashville Teens. Edd "Kookie" Byrnes, Chris Noel, Robert Logan, Gale Gilmore, Aaron Kincaid. Dick Miller, Mikki Jamison, Don Edmonds, Brenda Benet, James Wellman, Anna Lavele, Jack Bernardi.

The Supremes sing "Come to the Beach Ball with Me" and "Surfer Boy"; the Four Seasons sing "Dawn"; the Hondells sing Brian Wilson's "My Buddy Seat"; the Righteous Brothers go ape on "Baby What You Want Me to Do"; and the Walker Brothers wail on "Doin' the Jerk". Other songs in the film include: "I Feel So Good", "Surfin' Shindig", "Wiggle Like You Tickled", "We've Got Money."

That's one thing that I don't understand with blogspot,

So here's the link to enjoy the great Fats Domino performing
his classic "Honey Chile" in the closing credits of the 1956 movie
"Shake, Rattle & Roll"

This is the only photo known of Oscar Mack

Sir Douglas Quintet performing "She's About A Mover"
on Hullabaloo presented by Trini Lopez
You can't beat that set and those dance moves!

Great clip of the Sir Douglas Quintet performing
"She's About A Mover" on Shindig!
I'm always confused when people put silly (and shitty)
animations at the start and the end of the video they post
on YouTube ; it almost ruins everything.
Hopefully Doug Sahm and Augie Meyers save the whole thing

Frankie Ford
I always thought he was black ...

here's a nice touch of Latin that'll
make you feel alright
