Radio Show #20 (20-05-11)

The Byrds

Hey lads, you're back on your regular Shindig! friday evening with now a brand new opening theme : "5-4-3-2-1" by Manfred Mann. This theme was also used by "Ready Steady Go" TV show back in the 60's!
From now on, there's also a backing track in your favorite radio show.
But enough talks! Dig your weekend's starter with Dewey Freed on radio campus :

Tracklist :
1. I Need Your Loving – Ronnie Jones with The Nightimers
2. You Movin' – The Byrds
3. Fool In Love – The Veltones
4. Making Time – The Creation
5. Night Time Is The Right Time – The Blues Project
6. Love Me – Elvis Presley
7. Girls On The Beach – The Beach Boys

Backing Track : Slim Jenkin's Place - Booker T. & The MG's

Before starting the video section, I recommand you to listen to the original full length, uncut version of "I Need Your Loving" by Don Gardner & Dee Dee Ford (it's available on YouTube). I will try to broadcast their version soon but the version I got is the one which was released as a single (e.i. the cut one).

The Creation performing their awesome track "Making Time"
on German TV show Beat Beat Beat
"Take Your Pick, Make You Sick"
Take that violin bow and crunch your guitar!
(way before Jimmy Page)
Like the dance the hipsters are doing.

What to say, apart from He is the King!
Elvis Presley performing "Love Me" in his 68' Comeback Special.
So charismatic, so charming, so great.
Elvis has left the building!
R.I.P. Elvis "Aaron" Presley

Hip cats, here's the trailer of the only beach movie
featuring The Beach Boys : Girls On The Beach
In Swingin' Colors!
You know what! I wanna see this movie!
Featuring also Lesley Gore and The Crickets!

But wait a minute. Look at what I've just found :
The Beach Boys playing a song called "The Monkey's Uncle"
with a girl named Annette in the movie of
the same name produced by Disney
I'd like to see this movie too!

Talking 'bout movies, I've just seen "Candy" (I talked about it two weeks ago) and it's far more psychedelic that you can expect seeing the trailer. Well worth your time and effort ; and the soundtrack is provided by The Byrds and Steppenwolf, so don't hesitate (the song "I Want Candy" is actually not included in the soundtrack).
The film also starred Marlon Brandon, Ringo Starr
and Anita Pallenberg among others!
Here's a bunch of selected quotes :
"This man wet his pants, that's bad"
"Then the pig got eaten by a crocodile"
"You can't bring a frozen guru to California"
One question about the film : what the fuck is doing Spider Man in it!
But don't forget that whatever happened,
everybody wants Candy!

And to finish this glorious selection, here's the sixth part of
The Kinks' concert in Paris on April 24, 1965
All Day And All Of The Night
