Radio Show #38 (06/01/12)

The Contours

Hi chicks and cats! As you may have noticed, there's no post concerning December 30, 2011. Indeed, I recorded this particular show in duo with Cyrille, a fellow disc-jockey at Campus Grenoble. And as a matter of fact, the show was recorded in French ; so I guess it's a bit irrelevent to include it here. But you know what, if you people want to here it, just leave a message and I'll post it on the blog.
Anyway, I'm glad to present you the first Shindig! from 2012! (originally broadcasted on January 6, 2012) :

Movie Of The Week
/
The Girl Can't Help It (1956)

Here's the movie trailer

Color. Letterbox. Sex, gangsters and fabulous rockin' 1950s rock and roll. One of the 1950s best rock and roll films.

Songs include: Little Richard: "The Girl Can't Help It," "Ready Teddy," "She's Got It." Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps: "Be-Bop-A-Lula." Eddie Cochran: "Twenty Flight Rock." The Treniers: "Rocking Is Our Business." Fats Domino: "Blue Monday." Eddie Fontaine: "Cool It Baby." The Platters: "You'll Never, Never Know." Julie London: "Cry Me a River." Nino Tempo: "Tempo's Tempo." Johnny Olenn: "My Idea of Love," "I Ain't Gonna Cry No More." Teddy Randazzo and the Three Chuckles: "Cinnamon Sinner." Freddy Bell & The Bell-Boys: "Giddy Up Ding Ding." Ray Anthony Orchestra: "Rock Around the Rockpile." Abbey Lincoln: "Spread the Word."

Without The Girl Can't Help It there may never have been "The Beatles!" After seeing the film Paul learned Eddie Cochran's "Twenty Flight Rock" and on the day he was introduced to John, played the song on John's guitar. John was impressed and two weeks later asked Paul to join his group, the Quarry Men."
